Jade Balaclava
A balaclava earns its place in a winter kit for one reason: it keeps the parts a helmet doesn’t cover, ears, neck, lower face, warm on the rides where standing around at the yard or hacking out in the cold actually matters. This one is knit from 65% wool and 35% cashmere, giving it warmth without the bulk of a full scarf-and-hat combo.
The wool provides structure and insulation, while the cashmere softens the feel against skin, which matters most right at the neck and jaw where synthetic knits tend to itch. It layers easily under a helmet without adding pressure points, and doubles just as well as a piece to throw on around the yard before or after riding, not just in the saddle.
Care Hand wash cold or use a wool cycle. Do not tumble dry, lay flat to dry. No fabric softener needed, wool and cashmere lose loft with it. Avoid direct ironing; steam if needed. (Double-check against the garment’s own label before publishing, this is based on standard wool/cashmere care.)
